ASSIGMENT 2 NARRATIVE

A narrative is :
a piece of text which tell a story and, in doing so, entertaint or informs the reader or listener.


The purpose of narrative text :
tells about a story which can amuse to amuse, entertain and to deal with actual or various experience in differnt ways. narrative always deal with some problems which lead to the climax and than turn into a solution to the problem.


The text structure of a narrative text :
Orientation
sets the scene, introduce participant.
it can be a paragraph, a picture of opening chapter in which the narrator tells the audience about who is in the story (the character) when the story is taking place, and where the action is happening.

Complication
a crisis arises
it triggers the chain of events that influences what will happen in the story.
sequence of events where the character react to the complication.

Resolution
in which the characters finally solve the complication.

Re-orientation
is tell about complication and resolution.


Coda :
it provides comment or moral value on what have been learned from the story (optional paragraph)
the language feature
normally past tense but it may change immediately when dialogues appear (into present tense or future tense)
use of material verbal, mental process, relational process
use of descriptive language (a big empty house,the room is very large)
use of time connectors (when, finally, next, once upon a time, etc)
dialogue (direct sentences may be included)
the story may be sad ending or happy ending
the use of thinking verbs, faaling verbs, verb of senses
(she felt hungry, she though she was clever, she smelt something burning)
the use of saying verbs.


Language Feature :
simple past tense (went, lived, gave, watched, took, promised)
specific character (an old man)
descriptive words (when he returned bla bla bla)
using temporal conjuntion (once upon a time, now one day)
verbs processes (cut, sleep, drink)

Narrative text :
             The Old Witch

There was once a little girl who was very naughty. She never obeyed when her elders spoke to her so how could she be happy ?
One day, she said to her parents,"I have heard so much of the old witch that I will go and see her. People say she is a wonderful old woman, and has many maryvelous things in her house, and I am very curious to see them".
Her parents however, forbade her going, saying,"The witch is a wicked old woman, who performs many goodless deeds. If you go near her, you are no longer a child of ours."
The girl, however, would not turn back at her parents' command, but went to the witch's house. When she arrived there, the old woman asked her,"Why are you so pale ?"
"Ah,"she replied, trembling all over,"I have frightened myself so with what I have just seen."
"And what did you see ?" inquired the old witch.
"I saw a black man on your steps."
"That was a collier,"replied she.
        "Then I saw a gray man."
        "That was a sportsman," said the old woman.
"After him I saw a blood-red man."
"That was a butcher,"continued the girl,"when I peeped through your window, and saw not you, but a creature with a fiery head.
"Then, you have seen the witch in her proper dress," said the old woman. "For you I have long waited, and now you shall give me light."
So sayingbthe witch changed the little girl into a block of wood, and then threw it on the fire. When it was fully alight, she sat down on the earth and warmed herself, saying, "How good I feel ! The not burned like this for a long time !"
At that time, the girl was suffering alot. She cried aloud. Fortunately, a fairy was passing by the witch's house. Shen then saved the girl. She changed thr block of wood into the girl again and helped her escape from the witch's house.
The girl thanked the fairy and she promised that she would be a nice girl. She would always obey her parents.
